Job Summary

The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial and administrative business management of Summitry and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This position is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Management: Responsible for all systems and procedures related to budgeting, billing, and accounts payable to ensure the integrity of financial information including:

  • Verify and post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records, and prepare supporting account reconciliations.
  • Clearly prepare, analyze, and communicate monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Leadership Team.
  • Administer and review all financial plans and budgets, monitor progress, recommend changes, and keep the Leadership Team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
  • Manage organizational cash flow, forecasting, and oversight of all bank accounts to maintain adequate working capital.
  • Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors.
  • Perform the day to day transactional work of accounts payable, billing, and collections.
  • Update, document, and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices to improve the finance department’s efficiency and financial controls.
  • Provide financial information to meet the needs of managers including producing customized financial reports, costing templates, trend analysis on an as needed, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Prepare, communicate, analyze, and present critical financial matters to the Finance Committee, Leadership team and Board of Directors.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years’ experience in an accounting and/or financial analyst role
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proficient in QuickBooks online
  • MBA/CPA preferred
  • Highly proficient in MS Office; experience with CRM a plus
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills (integrity, humility, respect, empathy)
  • Ability to work independently but also be a proactive contributing team member
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through on projects effectively
