Summitry’s Equity accounts adhere to our philosophy that shares of stock represent ownership interests in businesses, and that their intrinsic value can be derived through diligent analysis. Where we can own an attractive business that possesses a competitive moat, deep customer relationships, opportunities for growth in revenues and earnings, and can purchase this business in the stock market at a discount to its intrinsic value, then we accomplish two important things for Summitry’s clients: (1) the combination of quality and value improves the probability that downside will be limited in unfavorable markets; (2) we position our portfolios for upside, since over time the best indicator of stock price performance is growth of earnings. We achieve balance in Summitry’s Balanced Account strategies through the use of Fixed Income and similar income-producing securities.
