Q & A

  • What drew you to the Bay Area?

A Bay Area native who grew up on the Peninsula found herself at 18 heading to college about 100 miles away in bucolic Davis, CA. That short distance was really worlds away from my life of food found coming only from grocery stores and restaurants versus really seeing the food supply chain from inception. (I lived between the sheep barn, pig barn and dairy in my first year as an undergraduate). I found that in the Bay Area, it is possible to temper the fast pace with slow food and the vibrant culture from theater to fine arts all available here. San Jose is my newest place to adventure - with wonderful hiking trails and new restaurants and cuisines to try.
  • If you volunteer for a charity, which one(s) and why?

I have been a consultant and volunteer for Heart to Heart with Art. Heart to Heart with Art is an educational and charitable group that combines the arts and acts of service to encourage children's creativity and the art of giving back to others. Recent and ongoing projects include art therapy programs held at schools in northern California who had been affected by the wildfires, and providing fresh start kits for recently released female inmates.
  • Three words to describe the Bay Area.

    Fast-paced, Diverse, Growing.
