Q & A

  • What drew you to the Bay Area?

The Bay Area offers a healthy dose of both opportunities and challenges and professionally I am drawn to situations that are less routine. Having grown up in the Midwest, the majority of financial planning concerns inevitably boil down to cash flow, social security, and pension planning. These are important considerations, but situations that most financial professionals can handle with ease. Life in the Bay Area offers many more complexities. From real estate, employee stock compensation, cost of living; this area of the country offers so much more in the way of thought-provoking financial decision planning scenarios in which we can deliver uncommon value to our clients.
  • What does “living your best Bay Area Life” mean to you?

Really, it is about seeking out that same level of opportunity and challenge that I find stimulating in my professional life and finding ways to recreate that excitement outside of work. Less than an hour north of where I live in San Mateo are enough running trails and elevation gain to keep me living my best life for many years to come.
  • What are your favorite pursuits outside of work?

One thing I took away from training and competing in martial arts at a high level is this idea of achieving mastery. It is the constant pursuit of something that on one hand could seem somewhat intangible, and on the other hand makes up the framework that guides my decision making and gets me out of bed in the morning. From ultra-marathons, to graduate school, to pursuing the CFA designation, my life is all about this pursuit of mastery with an understanding that achieving it is a life-long unattainable pursuit.
