About David

David joined Summitry in June 2020 as a Financial Advisor working with the Private Client Group, providing advisory and planning support to the firm’s Financial Advisors.

Before joining Summitry, David worked as an Associate Financial Advisor for Vuecrest Wealth Management in Bellevue, Washington where he helped clients implement holistic financial planning strategies. Before that, he took a quick detour to work at Tesla Motors in Fremont after graduating from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology focusing on Consumer and Family Financial Services. David is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.

When not helping clients achieve their own financial goals, David enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, cycling and learning new home cooking techniques and recipes. He also enjoys giving back to the community through coaching youth ultimate and coordinating adult recreation leagues.

Q & A

  • What are some of the challenges you face living in the Bay Area?

    As a new resident and short on the Bay Area experience, getting accustomed to the change in weather and traffic compared to the Pacific Northwest. I don’t need nearly as much rain gear down here!

  • Discuss a solution you provided for a client that you’re extremely proud of.

    It makes me most proud when I can go above and beyond a client’s expectation to deliver sound financial advice. One client was considering taking a new job across state lines and was unclear about the tax implications that this choice would have on their financial plan. I was able to connect with a CPA more familiar with taxation in that state and get that information back to the client before they had to make their final decisions.

  • If you volunteer for a charity, which one(s) and why?

    I have volunteered for a few ultimate frisbee related charities. DiscNW in the Seattle Area does great work in helping to make ultimate accessible for adults and youth throughout the region. I’d also helped coordinate specific charity events like Andy24 in Columbus, Ohio; a 24-hour ultimate and disc-golf event in which all proceeds benefit local charities including Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus and the Compassionate Friends Organization.
