Q & A

  • What drew you to the Bay Area?

I was born and raised in Vallejo, which is a city in the San Francisco Bay Area. What I admire most about the Bay Area is the diversity in culture and it's a great central location to many big cities within a few hours drive, such as Los Angeles, Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, and the Silicon Valley. For all my years living in the Bay, I have developed many relationships with people who will always have a place in my heart.
  • Discuss a solution you provided for a client that you’re extremely proud of.

As part of the Operations Team, I spoke with a client who wasn't tech-savvy, but wanted to switch from a paper to electronic approach. The client expressed to me that, since they are elderly, they have an especially hard time with their smartphones. Due to privacy regulations, the client needed to register themselves for an online account, which meant setting up a username, password, then linking their smartphones to their email--all these steps were particularly cumbersome for someone not familiar with technology. To solve this challenge, I asked simple yet effective questions to the client and explained each step along the way. After a 40-minute phone call, the client was able to create an online profile, which enabled them to receive correspondence electronically. The client was so impressed that they reached out to my supervisor to put in a good word. My outlook on this situation is that you are never too old or young to learn. Patience is key.
  • If you volunteer for a charity, which one(s) and why?

For the last three years, I volunteer as the assistant baseball coach for the local high-school near where I live. Although it's not a charity, my passion for baseball led me to want to coach kids who either want to play past high school or just learn the game itself. After my second and third year of coaching, our varsity team has won back-to-back league championships--first time in over four decades.
