About Tyler

Tyler joined Summitry as a Financial Advisor. He understands that finances can sometimes feel like an additional layer of complexity and stress. He works diligently to understand all the facets of his client’s financial picture and what is most important to them. He then partners with them to create a strategic, personalized, and relationship-based plan so they can gain financial peace of mind and have greater energy in other important areas of their life.

Prior to joining Summitry, Tyler worked at Rowe Price and Empower and has been in financial services since 2016. Throughout his time in finance, he has held various roles (working with retirement plans to individual investors), giving him a unique understanding of the industry. Tyler graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM.

Tyler grew up in Colorado but was eager to get to the Bay Area to take advantage of the mountains and beaches, a more moderate climate, and a thriving food scene. When he is not working, Tyler enjoys running, taking his dog for hikes, eating good food, or enjoying a quiet night.

Q & A

  • What drew you to the Bay Area?

The Bay Area has an energy that speaks to me. I love the diversity of people, cultures, and food. Watching the sunset over the ocean will never get old for me.
  • What are your favorite pursuits outside of work?

I started getting into running this year. I would love to run the San Francisco marathon. It would be another incredible opportunity for me to appreciate the beautiful place I live. I also like to bake some. I have never been a good cook, but perhaps my passion for dessert spills into the baking process, giving the recipes the extra boost they need.
  • Share a personal accomplishment that you’re particularly proud of.

When I first entered the financial services, I didn’t hold any certifications or prior experience. In the course of 5 years, I passed a total of 6 examinations which culminated with the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification which takes hundreds of hours of coursework and studying. I did all this while working 50 hours a week. I am incredibly proud of the drive and determination I showed throughout that time and those skills continue to serve me today.
