About Emily

Emily serves as a Senior Financial Advisor & Advisor Manager at Summitry and believes every financial plan should be as unique as the client receiving it.  She will spend the time necessary to ensure any guidance she presents appropriately reflects all the nuances of the situation.  She puts a great deal of importance on forming trust and personal connection with each of her clients, and prides herself on being their go-to financial expert, providing input on investments, income, tax and estate planning, employee benefits navigation, and more.

Prior to entering the financial industry, Emily earned a degree in Neuroscience and worked as an analyst and project manager for an environmental chemistry laboratory.  She transitioned into personal finance in 2014 to combine her two primary personality traits: data-driven and extroverted.  Her years in the advisor role have given her the opportunity to problem solve and build impactful, lasting relationships with clients, as well as confirm that her career realignment was the right choice.  Before arriving at Summitry, she held comparable roles at TIAA and Fidelity.  Emily is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.

Having grown up in Minnesota, Emily enjoys taking advantage of the Bay Area’s mild climate, and proximity to mountains.  She and her husband enjoy camping, skiing and climbing, long hikes with their dog, and cozy evenings with their cat.  They take an annual trip back to the Midwest to enjoy a week at the lake, MN breweries, and tater tot hot dish.

Q & A

  • What are your favorite pursuits outside of work?

I love anything in the mountains! My husband and I spend much of our free time hiking, backpacking, camping, rock climbing, skiing, and snowshoeing. I like to unwind (and rest my mind and muscles) while baking cookies, reading fiction, or enjoying a good craft beer and a board game with family and friends.
  • If you volunteer for a charity, which one(s) and why?

My husband and I both volunteer at our local Humane Society. We love animals, have two adopted pets of our own, and want to help as many others as we can find loving families. I organize fundraisers and adoption events and help with newsletters, but I also spend a few hours a week walking the dogs or socializing with the cats. Once we even drove a rescue rooster to a family farm! In the past, I’ve also worked with Junior Achievement, volunteering in an Oakland classroom, and Open Arms of Minnesota, delivering meals to Minnesotans living with life-threatening illnesses.
  • Three words to describe the Bay Area.

    Evolving, exciting, limitless
