About Phil

Phil is a Financial Advisor at Summitry with over 20 years of experience in wealth management and investment planning. He is dedicated to helping his clients navigate their financial journeys. Phil recognizes that while some clients may share common goals, each individual’s circumstances and aspirations are unique. Through building meaningful relationships with his clients and deepening his understanding of their unique needs, he focuses on delivering tailored solutions through thoughtful and comprehensive financial planning.

Prior to joining Summitry, Phil earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance at San Jose State University. He developed a wide-ranging skill set advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients at firms such as Fidelity Investments and Charles Schwab & Co.

Phil is a Bay Area native and currently resides in San Mateo with his wife and daughter. He enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, watching English Premier League football, and traveling internationally with his family whenever possible.

  • What drew you to the Bay Area?

    I'm a native to California and the Bay Area. What keeps me here is the tremendous biodiversity in this part of the world. The Bay Area attracts the best and the brightest from every corner of the planet. To have the ability to interact daily with people from all parts of the world and to learn from others' cultures and life experiences is a great part of what makes the Bay Area so unique.
  • If you volunteer for a charity, which one(s) and why?

    I come from a family of immigrants from the Philippines. In many parts of the country, it's incredibly poverty-stricken. With that said, regardless of social class I think every human at least deserves the ability to feed themselves. Our family has been supporting World Central Kitchen for a few years, as they provide food and resources to those around the world in disaster zones that need support.
  • Describe a personal characteristic that makes you well-suited to help Bay Area Hamlins.

    When working with clients in the Bay Area, I believe my ability to translate complex ideas into clear, everyday language is what makes me effective with this demographic. While highly skilled professionals understand the technical terminology and nuances of their fields, it can be challenging to connect with those who aren't trained in or don’t deal with the subject matter daily. I aim to provide information in a way that’s easy to digest and understand, empowering people to make informed decisions. Whether professionally or personally, my goal is always to communicate in a way that fosters a shared understanding between myself and the person I’m engaging with.
